Cameroon suspended a plan to allow logging in a forest that’s home to lowland gorillas and chimpanzees by withdrawing a July decree that made part of the area the private property of the state.
Tanzania: Germans appeal to Kikwete
Mwanza — More 75,000 people worldwide have petitioned President Jakaya Kikwete over poaching and planned development projects that threaten the environment. The German NGO Rainforest Rescue called on Kikwete to "take vigorous action to protect your country's nature and its wildlife by curbing destructive business projects".
